cabin on the gunnison
This amazing cabin in the middle of one of the world's championship fishing rivers, the Gunnison...

...has been reopened after being closed for a year.

It has over 200 feet of riverfront for you to explore and fish - in fact it really is on the tip of an island, and the water rushes around you about 15 feet on either side of the cabin.

kids fishing cabin The owner is even willing to rent the house she lives in - your only neighbor - to larger groups this summer. So if you have more than 4 and you are avid fishermen, call me! and fish with your coffee.

Ice Fishing Movie

March 2 is the final leg of the Ice Fishing Tournament
Catch the movie, and think about getting some ice skates and skating around Taylor Lake to watch the fun.

ice fishing Maybe you don't want to sit there and watch the hole in the ice, but it would be fun to skate around and see what everyone's up to. Don't missthe movie - my favorite part is the little boy who comes into the marina and insists on measuring his fish!

Greensky BlueGrass- February 12th

February 12th, 8pm - Adults $15
It is a pleasure to welcome Greensky Bluegrass to the Center stage! Often heard on KBUT during the Orange Blossom Special, The Great Divide or The Van Down By the River, Michigan-based Greensky Bluegrass offers a powerhouse live show with music that hits both traditional bluegrass notes and jamgrass flair. Greensky has a modern sound without straying far from the roots of the genre. A bit of what makes Greensky amazing: Poignant rural ballads about real people. Dobro tone that Jerry (Douglas or Garcia) would love. Grit and attitude from a whiskey soaked card game. And when they're on stage, all you can feel is the love, the fun, the energy.

Tickets go on sale January 24.

Tom Rush- February 9th 8pm

Tom Rush returns to the Center for the Arts by popular demand. Rush is a gifted musician, performer and storyteller, whose shows offer a musical celebration...a journey into the tradition and spectrum of what music has been, can be, and will become. His distinctive guitar style, wry humor and warm, expressive voice have made him both a legend and a lure to audiences around the world. His shows are filled with the rib-aching laughter of terrific story-telling, the sweet melancholy of ballads and the passion of gritty blues. Rush's impact on the American music scene has been profound. He helped shape the folk revival in the '60s and the renaissance of the '80s and '90s, his music having left its stamp on generations of artists. James Taylor told Rolling Stone, "Tom was not only one of my early heroes, but also one of my main influences."

"Journey of a Red Fridge", CB Center for the Arts- February 7th

JOURNEY OF A RED FRIDGE is a story of a 17-year-old boy named Hari Rai, who lives in a small village in the Himalayan Mountains of Nepal, and his extraordinary journey. Hari is a student. However, he also works as a porter so that he could pay for his tuition and cover his living expenses. Although very young, he already has three years of experience carrying loads up and down the mountain, mostly tourists' backpacks. This time, he gets a job to carry a huge red refrigerator from the top of the mountain, to the nearest town. We follow Hari Rai on his journey through the fascinating Himalayan landscapes, we discover Hari’s inner life, his thoughts, hopes and dreams and we also get to know the culture and the local people’s way of life in this region. We learn about their relation with the most important aspects of their lives: family, nature and religion. Out of 60,000 child porters in Nepal, Hari is one of the few lucky ones to have a chance of going to school. Journey of a Red Fridge shows us what it takes for him to get his education.

Day: Wednesday
Time: 12:30PM-4:30PM
Meeting Location: Kelley 120
A digital camera is required.
Celebrated sports and landscape photographer, Trent Bona, leads participants in an engaging and hands-on workshop designed for both beginners and those wishing to refresh their technical understanding and skills of their Digital SLR cameras. In the first portion of the course, students learn the technical fundamentals of how their camera captures images, enabling them to understand the full impact and logic behind the adjustments they make. Next, the course covers the elements of image composition as well as the metering and usage of light so that students understand how to properly frame and expose for a multitude of different scenarios. The class includes an outdoor session in which students can practice what they have learned and get real time feedback from the instructor as they compose and capture images. When asked what he wants this course to encompass, Trent responded, “I want everyone to realize the full potential of their camera so that photography can become more of an adventure than just a challenge. Once a person understands the technical aspects of their equipment and the fundamentals of image composition the sky becomes his or her limit."
