Independence Day Celebrations! July 4, 2011

Make sure to stake out a spot to watch the Fourth of July parade, which starts at Elk Avenue and Sixth Street, and goes down to Second Street. If it's a hot day and you need to cool off, move past Second Street into the Wet Zone. A tradition for almost as long as the parade, watch as the fire trucks open up the hoses and the real fun begins. Be warned, however, that you will get soaked.

After pancakes and the parade down in town, make your way up the hill for this year's jam-packed July 4th celebration in Mt. Crested Butte.  This year an evening of entertainment for all ages awaits in Mt. Crested Butte, including the resort's new Adventure Park - complete with climbing tower, bungee trampolines as well as BBQ and beer at Butte 66 and a fitting finale of fireworks at dusk.
