Bearfoot presented by Crested Butte Center for the Arts- February 2- 8pm

Telluride winner Bearfoot is one of the leading young bands reshaping American roots music. Drawing from a broad range of musical styles including bluegrass, old-time, folk, country, Cajun, blues and western swing. The female-fronted quartet delivers a powerful live show that features winningly intimate lead vocals, intricate arrangements of award-winning original songs, tight harmonies and impressive instrumental prowess.

“Old time, roots, Americana, folk, bluegrass – whatever...it’s just plain old pleasure.” - The Boston Globe

Their last two CD releases on Compass Records have come to critical acclaim with their 2009 Release Doors and Windows debuting at #1 on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart, and their 2011 release American Story had a music video for title track “Tell Me a Story” reach #2 music video of the week 3 weeks in a row on CMT’s Pure Music Video Channel.

Bearfoot band members include Angela Oudean, Jason Norris, Todd Grebe, and Megan McCormick.

New Addition Megan McCormick: Many of you know Megan as both a fantastic, out of this world vocalist and guitarist, and also as someone who has a long history with Bearfoot. Megan is from Alaska, and even filled in for a summer on guitar for Bearfoot a few years back. She also wrote “Oh My Love”, the opening track from our Doors and Windows album that hit #1 on the Billboard Bluegrass Charts in 2009. We hope you are as thrilled as we are about getting to hear Megan with the band and hope to see you down the road at one of our upcoming shows.

Suzy Bogguss- January 27, 2013

“You can’t deal me the aces and think I wouldn’t play,” says Suzy Bogguss with a twinkle in her eye as she discusses her latest studio album Sweet Danger. It’s a line from one of her signature songs, but it’s also the philosophy with which the Illinois-born singer manages her career, and the stepping-off point for a collection of her strongest songwriting and most evocative vocals to date.

Like most explorers, she offers no apologies for chasing her muse wherever it leads her. She’s always listened to her head and her heart when picking music for her albums. She’s guided by a desire to be true to herself while communicating with her audience.

She says, “What I’m really trying to do is make music that people like. That’s why I started playing in bars in the first place. That’s why I listened to people when they told me I should sing another person’s songs. I believed them. We were talking to each other. We were communicating. That’s what’s so great about the Internet now. It’s what we used to do with artist co-ops and mailing lists only now you can reach millions of music fans instead of hundreds.”

Connecting with her audience has been a fundamental part of her career since she graduated from Illinois State University with an art degree and began touring the coffeehouse and club circuit.

Magic Meadows Yurt Dinners
Dinners at the Yurt

Glasses tinkle, friends laugh, and enticing aromas waft from the kitchen as you sit down to a gourmet meal. There’s no way to truly grasp the unique beauty of a special dinner at the Magic Meadows yurt than to experience it for yourself. Grab your friends and family, your skis or your snowshoes, and join us for one of these truly memorable dinners.

Guests ski or snowshoe out to the yurt at your own pace. The trail to the yurt is about a mile and is mostly level with a few rolling hills, taking about 30 – 45 minutes for most skiers. If you’re new to skiing, snowshoeing is a great option. If you’re unfamiliar with our trails, we can arrange for a guide to meet you at the trailhead at 5:30–just let us know if you’d like this service! We recommend all guests bring a headlamp or flashlight, and do stop by the Nordic Center ahead of time to pick up your trail passes and a map.
