Classical pianist Alpin Hong plays technical sonatas like 300 year old rock and roll hits. He grabs a single note and thrusts it into hyperdrive. He is fluid. Impassioned. Tender. Electric. Poetic. Formally trained as a Master at the Julliard School of Music, Hong flaunts technical prowess on even the most strenuous pieces.
Watch Alpin join forces with the Crested Butte Community School Band and battle note for note with Crushed Out, an explosive hit of surf-garage momentum and rock and roll from Brooklyn, New York consisting of Frank Hoier on guitar and vocals and Moselle Spiller on drums. Formally known as Boom Chick, Crushed Out is pure guitar-drum adrenalin rush - plenty of fuzz, tremolo, riffs, slide and Black Sabbath power chords. Learn more about Crushed Out.
Student Tickets Available WSCU students must present valid school ID when picking up tickets. If a valid ID is not presented, you will be required to cover the difference to a full price ticket. Read more about Alpin, who has been to Crested Butte for a few years now and returns for his love of our community and our programs.

After changing venues last year, the annual downhill endurance event will return to Mt. CB's gnarliest run: The Banana--so do your snow dance! Open to everyone, from the pro skier to the weekend warior, competitors will ski or ride nonstop laps down the Banana to raise money for the Adaptive Sports Center and the Crested Butte Snowsports Foundation. In past seasons, top racers completed over 65,000 vertical feet, while others take it more leisruely and enjoy a great don on the mountain.
How it Works
Individuals: may ski/ride solo for all 7 hours (you may not compete on a team and in the solo category). You may stop/rest as often as you like. Laps will be counted each time you pass through the timing tent at the staging area, located at the base of the Twister chair lift.
Tag Team: Don’t want to go it alone? Sign up with 3 of your favorite ski buddies and take on Twister together! Only one member of a tag team can be on course at any time. Tag teams are limited to 4 people and can be comprised of alpine skiers, telemarkers, snowboarders, monoboarders or any combination there of.
Social Teams: can be of any size. One or all team members can be skiing Twister at any time. Team members may start at any time from the Twister lift. Laps will be counted when you pass through the timing tent. Team captains are responsible for collecting and submitting team member's waivers and entry fees. Please turn all forms and payment in together.
Turn your legs to mush at this endurance downhill event on Mt. Crested Butte's gnarliest run: The Banana! How it works: By 8:30 a.m. all participants must have located their skis at the designated area a short ways uphill of the starting line. Le Mans start at 8:50 a.m.: participants will run up to their skis and traverse above both chairlifts down to the Silver Queen lift. Competitors must use the dedicated lift line; do not use other lines open to the public (the Silver Queen will open early for the start). Participants will ride the Silver Queen chairlift, traverse over to the Banana, ski or snowboard down, and repeat! Please remember if you go too fast through the timing tent, your lap will not be counted! If you don't hear a beep--you're going to fast!
**Use CAUTION when approaching intersections...the mountain remains open to the public.** Aid station: will be provided at the support tent/lap timing tent Helmets: are required! Registration: Is limited to 100 athletes! Registration will open January 1, 2013 Register now!
